Sponsor terms

These sponsor terms explain how Local Past should keep community history separate from paid local listings.

What sponsorship is for

Local Past may allow relevant local businesses, organisations, or heritage partners to support place pages through clearly labelled listings.

Sponsorship should help keep the service sustainable without changing the historical record.

Clear separation from history

  • Sponsor listings must stay separate from community contributions, person records, place history, and moderation decisions.
  • Sponsors do not receive control over historical content or the ability to remove criticism, corrections, or competing records.
  • Sponsorship should not change historical search ranking or make paid content look like community history.

Approval and relevance

Sponsor listings should be relevant to the place they appear with and should meet a heritage-friendly standard. Early sponsorship can be approved and handled manually before any self-service billing exists.
